Unresolved Kashmir dispute threat to peace in South Asia

Srinagar, June 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): The All Parties Hurriyet Conference leader and the Chief Patron of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, has urged the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh to fulfil the promises made with the Kashmiris by Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru and other Indian leaders.

Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Kashmir was an internationally recognised dispute that could not be resolved through development and economic packages. He said that unresolved Kashmir dispute had endangered the peace of entire South Asia.

He said that India was plundering the natural resources of the occupied territory while the common Kashmiri had been deprived of basic amenities. He said that it was the responsibility of the international community to take notice of atrocities being committed by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir. He also appealed to the human rights organisations to put impress upon India to stop human rights abuses in the territory.
