United States Helps Strengthen Pakistani Civil Society
Islamabad: The first session of a U.S. Government-funded training program for Pakistani civil society organizations drew to a close today in Islamabad. The series of six training sessions is designed to increase the capacity of civil society organizations in management, IT, financial management, and ethics. Non-government organizations from 15 districts across the country participated.
“We expect that these training courses will enhance operations, accountability, and transparency in the Pakistani NGO sector,” said Catherine Johnson, Democracy and Governance Office Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The training programs are being organized under a five-year, USAID-funded Assessment and Strengthening Program providing training courses, technical advice, and other support to strengthen the operations of governmental and non-governmental organizations throughout Pakistan.
