United Nations Global Compact urges PM to deal firmly with corruption, human rights violations, labour laws and environment

Karachi, June 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) representative Zulfikar Thaver felicitated prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif on behalf of UNGC and expressed full confidence and trust in his leadership. Thaver said UNGC is working in eradicating corruption, promoting human rights, labour rights and ensuring environment protection and expects all democratically elected governments to enforce the principles correctly.

He said the UNGC looks forward to healthy interaction with the government to promote alternate dispute resolution to reduce the burden on the courts and offer remedy to the aggrieved. The UNGC is keen to target the corrupt elements in society, protect human rights, provide environment and stop employment of child labour and protect labour rights. The UNGC promised full support to the PM in his endeavours to make Pakistan a land of peace and prosperity
