Tannery Zone to be included in Karachi’s development programme

Karachi, October 05, 2016 (PPI-OT): Commissioner Karachi Division, Ejaz Ahmed Khan has ordered to include development works of Tannery Zone in Infrastructural Development Fund of Karachi. In a meeting with the newly elected Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) S.Z. Aziz Ahmed and other office bearers here at PTA office on Wednesday has assured the industrialists to speed up reconstruction of Road 5000, the main artery to Tannery Zone and other infrastructural development projects.

He also ordered the authorities concerned to prepare an effective plan for cleaning of Tannery Zone as garbage and industrial waste are dumped in the area. Commissioner Karachi has also assured the tanners to ask KWSB high ups to resume water supply to the leather industries and until that time should ensure water supply through tankers.

The Commissioner has also carried a survey of the area along with PTA Chairman and former Chairman PTA Gulzar Firoz. Senior officials of the local government were also accompanied with him. The Commissioner agreed with the view of PTA Chairman about the dilapidated condition of the road network, garbage dumps and overflowing sewage. He also visited the area of Combined Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) wherein Gulzar Firoz given a presentation.
