Syed Ali Gilani calls for peaceful protests on Friday

Srinagar, July 23 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has called for peaceful demonstrations after Friday prayers against the desecration of Holy Quran at Gool in Ramban and subsequent arrests. He urged people to observe 26th July as Unity Day with their Muslims brethren in Jammu in memory of the recent killings.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement asked the Facebook users to upload slogans conveying the world that people of Jammu and Kashmir would not compromise on freedom from Indian bondage.

The veteran leader said that Indian policymakers were making efforts to portray that movement was confined to the Valley and Muslim population of Jammu were indifferent to the freedom movement. These forces, he added, are hell-bent upon creating a wedge between the Muslim communities of the two regions.

He said the Muslim population in Jammu is at the mercy of Village Defence Committees, communal forces and added the repressive treatment unleashed by the puppet administration has made their life miserable.

Syed Ali Geelani expressed his grief and extended his heartfelt sympathies with those injured in recent firing and urged immediate release of all detainees.
