Supreme Court Hears Constitution Petition 70 Of 2007 Today

Islamabad: A three member bench headed by the Honourable Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Chief Justice of Pakistan and comprising other two members namely Honourable Mr. Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Honourable Mr. Justice Tariq Parvez heard Const.

Petition No. 70 of 2007 Pakistan Hindu Council vs. Pakistan . M/o Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Islamabad. Attorney General for Pakistan appeared on behalf of respondent and requested for some time to seek instructions from the concerned quarters in the matter.

The court was informed by Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Patron-in-Chief, Pakistan Hindu Council that during the few past days, three females of the Hindu community i.e. Rinkle d/o Nandlal (Mirpur Mathello); Dr. Lata d/o Dr. Ramesh (Jaccobabad), kidnapped from CPSP Karachi and Poja Devi (Larkana) have been forcibly abducted and the whole community feels insecure, as a result whereof they have lodged a protest in Karachi.

He prayed that necessary directions be issued to the Provincial Administration for recovery and production of these girls on the next date of hearing. The Court directed Inspector General of Police Sindh to take all necessary steps for effecting recovery of the above named females/ladies of the Hindu community and produce them before the Court on the next date of hearing i.e, 26.03.2012.”
