Special Relief Package for flood affectees of Sindh and Balochistan by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
Islamabad: Mrs. Asma Arbab Alamgir, MNA and Honorary Ambassador of UNHCR and Mr. Mengeasha Kebede, Representative of UNHCR, called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and committed a special package on behalf of UNHCR worth 20 million dollars for the flood and rain affected people of Sindh and Balochistan.
According to the representatives of UNHCR it is a rapid response to Prime Minister’s appeal to the International Community to help victims of rain and floods.
Mrs. Asma Arbab Alamgir, MNA, assured the Prime Minister that the UNHCR will continue to extend support to the victims of the devastation in the first place and also in the rehabilitation later on.
The Prime Minister appreciated the timely provision of tents, plastic sheets, medicines, clean drinking water etc when these goods are most urgently required.
