Sindh Governor highlights Ulemas role for maintaining peace

Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan said Saturday that the ulema have an important role to play for maintaining peace in the city.

He was talking to a renowned scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil who called on him at the Governor House alongwith other ulema. He said that the ulema had always played their comprehensive role for peace whenever a law and order situation was created in the country.

Governor said that the government was taking every possible measure to maintain peace in Karachi. However, all the segments of the society have to play their role in this regard, he added.

He said Islam is a religion of peace and it teaches the lesson of love and brotherhood.

Maulana Tariq Jamil in his address said that Islam was never enforced by force, the Prophets were sent with the message of truth. He said Islam teaches the lesson of containment, forgiveness and pardon and the highest degree of belief is the high morality.

Maulana Jamil asserted that a bad tongue is the main reason of all conflicts and the people should shun it. One sweet remark is better than thousands of good deeds.

He said according to the teachings of Holy Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) the best Muslim is one by whose hands and tongue, other Muslims are not harmed. Similarly, he said Islam teaches respect for each and every life.

Maulana Jamil said that maintaining peace is not the responsibility of government alone, all of us need to play a collective role in this regard.

While praising the Sindh Governor, Maulana Jamil said he (Governor) is a good leader and he likes him for his deeds. “I hope that he will play a role of judicious ruler in his jurisdiction”, he noted.

Sindh Governor thanked Maulana Jamil for visiting the Governor House and also lauded his role in maintaining peace.
