Sindh Government prepares strategy to strengthen Pakistan Mercantile Exchange: Naheed Memon

Karachi, October 04, 2016 (PPI-OT): Sindh Government has devised a strategy for doing business of agriculture produce through Mercantile Exchange of Pakistan and to strengthen the Mercantile Exchange to ensure of agriculture produce to the international markets with the ultimate goal to provide benefits directly to the growers, said Chairperson Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), Ms. Naheed Memon.

The Chairperson SBI said this while chairing a meeting to finalize the strategy in this regard at her office here on Tuesday, said a statement. The business of around six tones of red-chilli will be done in the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange for the first time and Sindh Enterprise Development Fund (SEDF), will pay Rs 2.5 per kilogram subsidy to the growers from their business, she said.

She said that the red-chilli of high quality will be available to the local and international buyers due to the business through Pakistan Mercantile Exchange. The grower will get price of their agriculture produce through banks within three days, she added.

She said that the trend of business of standard quality agriculture produce will be promoted among the growers of other yields like banana, date-palms, mango and other fruits and vegetables. With the result the Mercantile Exchange, buyers, growers and the economy of the province will be benefitted, she observed.
