Sindh Government and European Union to organise international exhibition of Sindh oriented Fruit and Agro Products in Central Asia to boost export of Sindh oriented Agro Products

Karachi, November 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Sindh Government and European Union agreed to organize international exhibition of Sindh oriented Fruit and Agro Products in Central Asia to boost up export of Sindh oriented Agro Products in the world and establishment of cold storages at farm fields in Sindh.

This was agreed by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah while meeting with -3 member delegation of European Union who called on him at C.M House today. Talking to the delegation, the Chief Minster Sindh said that Sindh posses good potential in Agro-Production and it to export its production to the other countries.

He said that at the time when PPP came into power in 2008, there was shortage of Wheat but after that due to timely efforts of PPP Government and farmers friendly policies today the Sindh was not only self sufficient in Wheat but it exports it, likewise the Sindh was rich with qualitative rice, Sugar-cane, Chili, and have potential to produce qualitative fruit like world famous Mangoes, Checco, Kino etc. He said that though we have good fertile land, seasonal environment, but we are facing the shortage of water and less expertise to get per acre high yield.

The Chief Minister Sindh said that his Government was looking for the investment to develop Agriculture sector as it not only to fulfills our requirements of food but provides 70% to 80% employment opportunities to the local people and at outlet in cities. He said that we also facing energy crises here in the Pakistan and Sindh.

He said that we have indigenous sources of power generation which include the coal reserves and wind corridors to generate cheap electricity / power. He said that any investment from the members of Europeans Union for development in energy, agriculture and education sector would be welcomed and facilitated.

The Chief Minister Sindh while expressing his satisfaction over the keen interest of delegation in organizing, International Exhibition of Sindh oriented fruit and Agro Production at the Central Asia gave go ahead signal for exhibition and establishment of cold storage centers with facility of Europeans Union in Sindh.

The Senior Advisor Mr. ARTHUR BAYHAN representing to human dynamic a public sector consulting consulting organization while talking to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah expressed his keen interest for importing Sindh oriented fruits / vegetables and other Agro-Production to the European Union.

He also expressed his interest in the investment and providing expertise especially in certification for quality of fruits, providing cold storage facilities in the farm field. He also apprised the Chief Minister Sindh that there were many companies, interested in investment in energy, health, infrastructure, civil aviation and other sectors. He also expressed his interest in importing fish form Karachi and offered full co-operation with Sindh Government in this regard.

Meanwhile, A 12 members Korean delegation led by Senator Saleem H. Mandvi-Wala called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at C.M House today to mark the 30th anniversary of Diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Korea.

The former Ambassador Mr. Oh Jay-Hee who was also Chairman of Korea-Pakistan Friendship Association, Mr. Chun-soon-Kyu Vice Chairman Keun Jung-Ho Director, Shin-Un Director, Won-Sung-Kwon Secretary General and other members, former Consul General, sitting Consul General were present in the meeting.

Addressing the delegation, the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that we have very old friendly relations with South Korea. He said that we still are enjoying their expertise and investment in different projects and construction of 64km Hyderabad to Mirpurkhas dual carriage was a remarkable symbol of Sindh-Korea friendship.

The Chief Minister Sindh added and offered them to come forward and to build Karachi to Thatta dual carriage on partner basis. He also offered to the Korean companies to invest in Karachi mass transits projects in Sindh for which each incentive and facilities would be provided.
