Sikh organisations condemn murder of youth in Jammu

Jammu, June 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): Sikh organisations, Dal Khalsa and the All-Party Sikh Coordination Committee have strongly condemned the killing of a Sikh youth, Jagjeet Singh, in Jammu by Indian police during a demonstration against the detention of some youth. The leaders of Amritsar-based organisation Dal Khalsa, Satnam Singh and Kanwar Pal Singh, in a joint statement expressed solidarity with the Sikhs of Jammu. They said that the BJP had a complete hold on the Jammu administration and it was this party, which nurtured hatred against the Sikhs and Muslims.

They said that the BJP was playing dangerous game and in order to silence the voices of minorities it had given free hand to police and armed forces. They said that the removing of Saint Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale’s posters that led to the outrage was BJP’s design aimed at provoking the Sikh youth. They maintained that the Jammu police had unleashed a reign of terror on protesting Sikhs and showed their barbaric face.

The two leaders said that the police barbarism was repeat of what they had been doing with the Muslims of the Kashmir Valley since decades. They demanded strict action against the police personnel involved in the killing. Meanwhile, and the President of All-Party Sikh Coordination Committee, Jagmohan Singh Raina, in his statement also condemned the killing of the Sikh youth, terming it as a barbaric act.
