Shopkeepers of Shahabuddin market will be able to get shops in newly constructed building according to proprietary rights: Karachi Administrator

Karachi, December 20, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has said that shopkeepers of Shahabuddin Market Saddar will be able to get shops in newly constructed building according to proprietary rights whereas shopkeepers having low financial status could also get shops like before if they want and rest of the market shops will be allotted to people through draw.

He said this while talking with the delegation of Grand Alliance of Shopkeepers Shahabuddin Market in his office which was headed by the President of Alliance Muhammad Aslam.

On this occasion Director General Engineering Department Niaz Ahmed Soomro, Sr. Director Transport and Communication Muhammad Ather, Director Anti-Encroachment Abdul Malik, Director Public Housing Sabah-ul-Islam and other officers were also present.

Administrator Karachi said that a committee was constituted for dealing allotment matters of Shahabuddin Market and completion of construction works speedily which would submit its report and measures would be taken accordingly.

He said that some funding problems being faced in the construction works of Shahabuddin Market were now being resolved.

He said that we all own this city and projects here being carried out aim at providing citizens with maximum facilities and improving their standard of life.

He said that transparency in construction works of all the projects including Shahabuddin Market would be ensured so that people would have no ambiguity with reference to these projects.

Administrator Karachi said that shops and stalls from Shahabuddin Market were temporarily shifted in front of Parking Plaza Saddar to resolve parking problem in this area so that uplifting works around Empress Market could be started. This project holding much importance should be completed as soon as possible.

He said that phase-I of this project was being carried out with a cost Rs800million which include construction of market along with five-story car parking plaza where a good number of vehicles could be parked. Shopkeepers after completion of phase-I of the project would be shifted on lower ground floor gradually whereas 131 shops were constructed on ground floor.

He informed that 157 shops were constructed on mezzanine and 157 shops on first floor. Corridors having 12 ft to 18 ft width were also constructed in the market and this facility was not available in any other market so far whereas five stories were allocated for car parking where 600 vehicles and hundreds of motorcycles could be parked at a time.
