Shamim Mumtaz urges to recognize valuable contribution of elders

Karachi, October 01, 2016 (PPI-OT):Provincial minister for Social Welfare Shamim Mumtaz said that senior citizens were our assets not burden on us and called upon society to change it’s attitudes towards the elders and treat them with love and extra care.

In her statement on international senior citizens day, she urged society in particular younger generation to recognize the valuable contribution made by our elders for our families, society and Country and honour them for their services. Provincial minister deplored that senior citizens were not provided adequate care and health facilities in our country.

She stated that ignorance towards elders was increasing in the society with the passage of time and today our elders were feeling loneliness ultimately they were facing Psychological and serious health challenges . She recalled the gone times when elders were regarded and honoured equally by their children and grandchildren.

Provincial minister said we all owed our older citizens’ thanks and heartfelt respect. She informed that as per vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh government was making all out efforts for the welfare of senior citizens.
