‘RSS rallies in Jammu aimed to suppress Muslims’

Srinagar, October 11, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement have expressed serious concern over rallies of extremist Hindu organization, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), in Jammu division, saying that these rallies are aimed at creating hatred and volatile atmosphere to suppress the Muslims of the region.

The DeM General Secretary, Nahida Nasreen, in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “These rallies are aimed at harassing the Muslims and put them under psychological stress and pressurize them so that they do not speak against the horrifying and ruthless atrocities in Kashmir.” She said, people of the Kashmir Valley are with the Muslims of Jammu division and will always stand by them.

Meanwhile, Nahida Nasreen said, the illegally detained party Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, has been put in distressful condition in Baramulla sub-jail and only a few of her relatives are allowed to meet her.

“While in Srinagar central jail an inmate is allowed to meet his/her relatives twice, it is not the case in Baramulla sub-jail. In Baramulla, a detainee is allowed to meet his/her relatives only once. Besides, there are no proper sanitation facilities in the jail and that the cells always stink. This has created health problems to majority of the inmates including Aasiya Andrabi who is an asthma patient. Her cell is in very unhygienic condition and it has created health issues for her,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Working Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Movement (JKPM), Mir Shahid Saleem, in a statement issued in Jammu strongly condemned the PDP-led regime for letting the communal forces to carry out their provocative activities to hurt the sentiments and feelings of the Muslim community.

Reacting to the recently conducted RSS parades in Doda, he said that this was a deliberate attempt by the communal regime in the territory to promote the hatred and mistrust among the Muslims and Hindu community and pitch them against each other. He deplored that on one hand, the occupation authorities were not allowing Milaad and Muharram processions to take place while on the other, the goons of RSS had been given a free hand to take out marches in the streets of a very sensitive Chenab valley region.
