Restrictions on Muharram processions in IOK flayed

Srinagar, November 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has condemned the restrictions imposed by the authorities on Muharram processions in the territory.

The APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that people at the helm of affairs should handle the religious matters with care so that the sentiments of people were not hurt. He said that the authorities should allow the Muharram processions, adding that the people should remain vigilant about the elements that wanted to create trouble during such processions.

“Members of Sikh community are by the side of the members of majority community during the testing times. People of different communities should live in harmony and peace with each other so that nefarious designs of enemies are defeated,” Raina added.
