Rent Control Act for Islamabad Capital Territory to be presented in National Assembly soon: Asad Umar

Islamabad, December 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): Asad Umar, Member National Assembly of Pakistan Tehre-ke-Insaf from NA-48 Islamabad have assured the local traders that amended bill of a balanced rent control for Islamabad will soon be presented in the National Assembly for its enactment into a law.

He was talking to a delegation of representatives of Islamabad’s different markets that called on him led by Ajmal Baloch, Organizing Secretary of Traders Welfare Association, Islamabad and Khalid Chaudhry, Senior Vice President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry in PTI Central Secretariat, Islamabad.

PTI Regional President Amir Mughal, Secretary Traders Khurram Bakhtiar, PTI President NA-48 Sardar Zahid Akbar, Incharge Media Cell Waqas Abbasi, Zia Chaudhry and Jalal Bijlani were also present.

Asad Umar said during last election campaign, PTI had promised for a balanced rent control act in Islamabad which should provide equal protection to landlords and tenants and now the time has come to fulfill that promise. We are planning to present the amended bill of rent control act in National Assembly in near future and if trade leaders have any good proposals, they should share with us, he said.

Speaking at the occasion, Khalid Chaudhry, Senior Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry appreciated the good gesture of PTI for presenting bill of rent control act in NA, but added that traders had a bitter experience in this regard.

He suggested that PTI should take on board other parties regarding this bill for ensuring its enactment. He said CDA affairs also needed to be looked into as the initiatives of CDA’s Director Municipal Administration have created lot of concerns in traders as they are proving highly anti-business.

Ajmal Baloch, Central Organizing Secretary, Traders Action Committee, Islamabad said that a consensus bill of rent control act having the approval of all stakeholders was presented in the previous National Assembly, which is lying pending since then.

He said we don’t want that opposition bill should be bulldozed in the National Assembly, therefore, he suggested that instead of presenting new bill, the pending bill should be taken forward by taking on board Members National Assembly of PML-N, which could be passed more easily.

M/s. Amir Mughal, Sarfraz Mughal, Akhalaq Abbasi, and others also spoke on the occasion and offered their proposals for a balanced rent control act in Islamabad. They said business community will fully support the MNA who will help in solving the problem of rent control act in Islamabad.
