Reconciliation is key to Government’s political philosophy: Information Minister
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that reconciliation is the key to the political philosophy of present Govt. under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari.
She was talking to various groups of Pakistani Community here this evening. She said that the Govt. has adopted the principal of consensus in politics, which has given it leverage to concentrate on National Interest instead of limiting itself to merely party politics, says a press release received here today from OSLO, Norway.
While talking to a group of ex-patriots belonging to Pakistan Peoples’ Party, she said that the party leadership values the sacrifices of its workers for democracy and hard work of party workers abroad who really are the asset for the party.
She highlighted the policies of the Govt. which it was pursuing to encourage party workers living and working abroad. She also explained the steps being taken by the Govt. to improve the economy introduce tax reforms and bring fiscal discipline in the system. She also said that the Govt. was giving top priority to political solution of problems of Karachi and Balochistan.
While talking to a group of PML (Q) workers, she said the Govt. has formed political alliance with it in the largest national interest. She said that terrorism and extremism were the biggest challenges to the society and these could be met only with united efforts.
She paid glowing tributes to the ex-patriots saying that they had sent record foreign remittances these years. She said that the Govt. was fully aware of the problems being faced by the economy and was taking all possible measures to address them.
Earlier, she went to Utoya Kommune to offer condolences for those killed in July 22 tragic incident. She also was received by the Mayor of Drammen Kommune, Tore Opdal Hansen, who host a lunch in her honour and briefed her about history, culture and economy of his commune.
