Punjab Investigation Branch Chief Stresses Legal Rigor in Case Handling


Lahore, Muhammad Idrees Ahmad, Additional Inspector General of the Investigation Branch Punjab, chaired a significant video conference at the Central Police Office, directing investigation officers across the province to ensure that criminal investigations align with legal standards and ultimately hold up in court.



According to Punjab Police, the conference included all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), Superintendents of Police (SPs) of Investigation, and other supervisory officers, who joined via video link. AIG Muhammad Idrees emphasized the importance of considering potential punishments during investigations to guarantee that the outcomes are not only legal but also uphold the highest standards of justice.



Idrees instructed officers to meticulously prepare cases for court proceedings, advising them to maintain a demeanor that is reasonable and justifiable in court. He highlighted the importance of progressing from First Information Reports (FIRs) to challans with a focus on conviction, ensuring that all evidence and witness testimonies are thoroughly compiled and verified.



Additionally, the AIG directed the SPs of Investigation to address any errors by investigating officers promptly and offered his guidance for any complexities that might arise during the investigative process. He stressed the importance of submitting all pending challans to the courts promptly, with special attention given to cases under the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), which should be prioritized and completed swiftly as per legal standards.



The conference also saw participation from key officials including DIG CIA Imran Kishwar, AIG Monitoring Tariq Mahboob, SSP Investigation Three Shazia Sarwar, DSP Legal Naseer Panjuta, and other relevant personnel, underscoring a collective commitment to enhance the quality of investigations and judicial processes in Punjab.
