PSA invoked against Mir Hafeezullah for fourth time in IOK

Srinagar, October 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Indian police invoked the draconian, Public Safety Act (PSA) against Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir leader, Mir Hafeezullah for fourth time and shifted him to Heeranagar jail in Jammu.

The Tehreek-e-Hurriyet General Secretary, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the police action and described it as frustration of the occupation authorities.

He said that the court had approved bail of Hurriyet leader, Mir Hafizullah in several fake cases registered in Islamabad, Shergarhi, Kothibagh and Phlegam police stations and his detention under the draconian PSA had also been quashed by the court but the police again slapped PSA against him and shifted him to Heeranagar jail, Jammu.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai appealed the international human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Asia Watch and Red Cross to take notice of the growing human rights violations by the India forces and help grant Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination.

He also demanded immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders including Mir Hafeezullah languishing in different jails of India and the occupied territory.
