Provincial Development Working Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa approves 29 developmental projects costing Rs40.31 billion

Peshawar, March 26, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) held its meeting under the Chairmanship of Dr. Hammad Owais Agha Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by its members and respective administrative Secretaries.

The forum considered 34 projects pertaining to Health, Elementary and Secondary Education, Higher Education. Local Government, Energy and Power, Irrigation, Communication and Works and Environment sectors for the uplift of the province. The forum approved 29 projects with an estimated cost of Rs. 40.31 billion. 5 projects were deferred due to inadequate project designs.

The meeting approved three Health Sector projects, which comprised of; “Establishment of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical College Peshawar, Establishment of Khyber Institute of Neuro Sciences and Clinical Research (KINAR) in Mardan” and “Up-gradation of RHC Oghi to Category- D Hospital, District Mansehra”.

In the Elementary and Secondary Education sector four approved projects were “Provision for new policy initiatives in Elementary and Secondary Education Sector”, “Provision of Sports Equipment to middle schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”, “Feasibility, Detail design and supervision for the work “standardization of 200 Higher Secondary in KPK”, “Provision of facilities in Education Institutions for Security Measures and improved physical learning Environment”, “Construction of 5 Cluster Hostels (Female) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on need basis”. The only Higher Education sector project approved was “Endowment fund for Universities of KPK.”

In the Regional Development Sector one project was approved namely; “PC-II for Non – ADP scheme, “Establishment of Play Lands in Existing Parks” was approved. Three Water sector projects approved were “Planning and Monitoring Cell in Irrigation Department”, “Restoration of Damaged Civil Channels in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” and “Remodeling of Warsak Canal System.”

Two Building Sector projects which were granted approval included “Designing and Construction of duplex residential accommodation of different categories for Government Officers/Officials in Hayatabad Peshawar” and “Construction of Cafeteria in Provincial Assembly Building at Khyber Road Peshawar”.

Three DWSS portfolio projects approved were; “Feasibility study, Master Planning, Design and Supervision, Gravity Based Water Supply Scheme Matta, Swat”, “Construction /Rehabilitation of Water Supply and Sanitation Schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” and “Extension of WSS Drosh Tehsil and Distt: Chitral.”

The meeting while discussing road sector approved eleven projects including “Dualization of Sherkot Hangu Section of Provincial Highway, “Dualization of Naguman Shabqadar Section of Provincial Highway District Charsadda”, “Feasibility, design and Construction of Road from Kashu Khel Chowk via Sarki Khel Barmi Khel to Highway Bannu”, Feasibility and Design of Dodba to Sheringal Swany Road and Construction of RCC Bridge at Kotkay UC Sultan Khel District Dir (Upper)”, “Improvement and widening of Matta-Fazil Banda Road, Bagh Dheri – Rahat Kot Road, Gari Lalkoo Road, Beryum Gat Shawar and Gat Peochar Road, Swat”, “Feasibility and Construction of 19 Km Circular Road, PK-64, D.I.Khan, “Feasibility, Design and Construction of Two Bridges at River Kacha and Hissam village in District D.I.Khan”, “Feasibility, design, improvement, B/T and extention of Budal-Jabo road via Sher Ali, (20-KM) District Buner”, “Improvement, Rehabilitation and Upgradation of 300 KM roads in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”,”Feasibility, Design and Construction of Akhoon Bandi to Magri road, Pharrori to Bandi Mian Pid Dad via Bian Ahmed Ali Khan tol Kandal, Sarai Nimat Khan to Jabri road, District Haripur” and “Construction, Blacktopping and Rehabilitation of 14 KM road in Distt: Kohistan”.The only Forestry sector project approved was “Billion Trees Tsunami Afforestation Project in KPK”.
