Protesters subjected to brute force in IOK, several injured

Srinagar, March 16, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, several people were injured, today, when Indian troops and police personnel used brute force at different places to disperse demonstrators, who were protesting against the recent killing of a youth by the police.

Despite curfew and other restrictions, people took to the streets in Bandipora, Hajin, Palhallan and Baramulla areas and clashed with the Indian police and paramilitary personnel. The forces’ personnel fired teargas shells to break up the demonstration, injuring several people. Clashes between demonstrators and police and paramilitary personnel were going on till last reports came in.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown is being observed across the occupied territory, today, against the killing of the youth, Farhat Ahmed Dar, who was martyred by the police in Naidkhai area of Bandipora district on Friday.

Call for the shutdown on Sunday to protest the killing of Farhat Ahmad Dar, 20, who was lethally shot when police opened fire on a group of protesters in Bandipora district on Friday.
