Prof Butt for tripartite talks to settle Kashmir dispute

Srinagar, October 26, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior Hurriyet leader, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, has called for holding of tripartite talks among Pakistan, India and the genuine Kashmiri leadership to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

Professor Abdul Ghani Butt was talking to a five-member Indian delegation led by former minister for External Affairs and Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Yashwant Sinha that met him in Srinagar.

Professor Abdul Ghani Butt said, the need of the hour is to resolve the lingering dispute by devising a mechanism for a fruitful and result-oriented dialogue among the three stakeholders to the dispute – India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir. He highlighted the role of Indian intellectuals for an early resolution of the dispute.

The senior Hurriyet leader said that peace would continue to elude South Asia until the conflict over Kashmir was resolved as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He pointed out that due to the lingering dispute, there is always a chance of nuclear war which can not only bring destruction in the region but is also a threat to the world peace.
