Probe ordered into Naqash’s complaint on 2008 killings

Srinagar, June 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the human rights commission of occupied Kashmir has initiated investigation into the civilian killings in 2008 on a complaint lodged by Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, head of Human Rights Commission of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC).

Muhammad Yousuf Naqash had moved the petition in 2009 regarding 62 of such victims who were killed due to excessive and disproportionate use of force on peaceful protestors.

The complainant had prayed for due compensatory relief in favour of the families of the killed and those who sustained injuries.

The body asked the authorities to constitute a high-level commission of enquiry to “identity the persons who by their omissions and commissions, express or tacit, lapsed and erred in their discharge of official functions”.

The judgment asked the authorities to grant relief to the injured and next of kin of all those killed during the disturbances.
