Prime Minister Arrives Kazakh Capital
Astana: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani was received here by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Co-Chairman Pak-Kazakhstan Joint Ministerial Commission, Ambassador of Pakistan and the senior officials of the Kazakhstan Government and the Embassy officials.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani is the first Prime Minister of Pakistan to undertake bi-lateral visit after sixteen years when Shaheed Benazir Bhutto visited the country in 1995.
The Prime Minister is expected to hold discussions on wide range of subjects pertaining to trade, commerce, science and Technology, peaceful use of nuclear energy, prospects of exporting cement for the booming construction sector in the country. The Prime Minister will also discuss to assist the host country in the field of agriculture in which Pakistan has fairly done well in the different facets of agriculture engineering.
The Prime Minister appreciated the endeavours of the Kazakhstan President for raising the profile of the country by holding the summit titled Organization of Security and Co-operation in Europe to devise a comprehensive strategy to address the issue well in time to save the people of the regions from the undesirable impacts and instead continue to make strides in all fields for the social development of the people. The Summit was attended by the about 50 heads of the government and heads of the states.
The issue of Afghanistan is also expected to come up because its resolution holds the key of stability and prosperity not only of the Central Asian Republics but also of the countries of the South Asia.
It is believed that the commencing of PIA flight from Islamabad to Kabul, Tashkent, Almatyand back to Islamabad may also come under discussion during the Prime Minister’s visit. Investors and traders here feel that without the connectivity it is inconceivable to tap the vast potential that exists between the two countries.
It may be mentioned here that the Kazakhstan people are making enviable progress in the economy since independence 20 years ago that can be judged from the fact that the per capita of the people is around 13500 US dollars that has put the country on the radar screen of the world economy.
The recent inauguration of the Gas Pipeline between China and Kazakhstan will jack up the national wealth to a staggering extent. The other Gas Pipeline between China-Kazakhstan and Western Europe will make the country one of the richest country of the world.
The Country has the one of the biggest untapped gas and oil reserves in the world and their use in the energy deficient countries will be a win situation for the people of the region of South Asia and the Far East and even the Western European countries.
The country, according to the experts, is poised to make jump start because all essential ingredients are present in the social order. It has manageable population of 16.4 million with landmass which bigger than the whole Western Europe. Majority of people are Muslims with who are moderate as the literacy rate is about 97% crating an enabling environment for rapid development of social order.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa, Minister for Production Mr. Anwar Ali Cheema, Senator Mr. Ghulam Ali, MNA Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, and Mr. Faisal Ahmed Businessman.
