President underlines significance of female enrolment in universities

Islamabad, June 01, 2015 (PPI-OT): President Mamnoon Hussain has said that national universities should develop and strengthen international linkages with reputed foreign universities in order to benefit from their experiences and expertise. The President said this in a meeting with a delegation of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute headed by Engr. Shamsul Mulk, President SOPREST/BoG of GIK Institute, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.

The President stated that the universities and other institutions of higher learning are important pillars of the education sector. The President underscored the importance and need for improving the ratio of female enrolment in the universities.

The President emphasized upon the crucial role of the universities towards human resource development which ultimately contributes towards economic progress of the country. The President said that the present government and he himself attaches great importance to the education sector.

The President assured the delegation of every possible support in their efforts for uplift of the Institute. The delegation comprised, among others, members of Board of Governors of GIK Institute, Khawaja Zaheer Ahmed, Salim Saifullah Khan, and Shakeel Durrani.
