President calls for creating awareness amongst public about diseases

President Dr. Arif Alvi has stressed for creating awareness amongst the public about preventive measures to reduce the ratio of diseases including thalassemia.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Bone Marrow Transplant Center in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, he said legislation should be made regarding thalassemia test of both boys and girls before their marriages.

He said that Pakistan has dealt the global pandemic issue with integrated strategy of smart lockdown policy which is being acknowledged by the world. He said the nation fully supported the government in controlling spread of COVID by strictly following the SOPs.

The President said Pakistan has successfully driven the anti-polio campaign and Bill Gates provided financial assistance to Pakistan to create awareness in anti-polio drive and to eradicate the disease from the country.

He said Pakistan is facing multi problems in the society due to lack of awareness. He said malnutrition and stunting are serious issue in the country and we need to sensitize the general public about these issues as well.
