Peshawar, June 04, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Culture and Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that our culture programmes do not aim at making merry rather it was a conscious message to the entire world that we love our culture, art and hate terrorism.

These views he expressed while addressing as chief guest at a luncheon hosted in honour of artists, culturists and literary figures of Nowshera at Garrison Club Nowshera the other day. DCO Nowshera Ayaz Mandokhel, eminent poets Dr. Raj Wali Shah Khattak, Dr. Yar Muhammad Maghmoom, Dr. Pervez Mahjoor, Film Star Jamil Babar, film writer Salim Chottoo, Fakhruddin TV Drama Writer, Dr. Humayun Hamdard, TV Artist, Javed Babar, Naeem Jan, Toheed Qureshi, Sultan Shah and popular singer Bakhtiar Khattak and Fayaz Kheshki also addressed the ceremony on this occasion.

Addressing the function the speakers said that Nowshera was very rich in respect of literature and culture adding that birth of Khushal Khan Khattak and Ajmal Khattak was its proof. Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that he himself loved literature and art adding that these sectors played important role in shaping and de-shaping the society.

Keeping in view the importance of culture, the present government has given special attention to it and for this purpose a separate and independent department of culture was established. He said that we were making conducing environment for artists at very high cost adding that some time back artists were leaving their country due to unfavorable situation.

He said that we have resumed cultural activities in the province in order to give confidence to our terrorism stricken brethren and for this purpose reopened the closed Nishtar Hall for artists who did several successful cultural programmes in a very short period.

He said that Pashto legend singer Khayal Muhammad was given a cheque of Rs. One million which was a proof of our attachment with our culture. Moreover, dozens of other people have also been given funds in recognition of their performance. Dilating upon TV channel Abasin, Mian Iftikhar said that government was totally sincere for this project however certain forces were opposing it.

He however added that feasibility of establishment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa TV Channel has been prepared and a sum of rupees 100 million have been allocated in the budget for this purpose. Regarding establishment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa FM Radio Channel at Nowshera, the minister said that every district would have one FM Radio with the passage of time.
