Power users are bothered of load shedding and overbilling: Muhammad Yameen

Karachi, May 25, 2016 (PPI-OT):Advisor to Federal Ombudsman Regional Office Muhammad Yameen has said that Power Users are bothered of Load shedding and Overbilling, Authority of Federal Ombudsman is well aware of their hardships that is why poor citizens are being provided quick justice by eradication overbilling. These thoughts were expressed by him during the hearing of applications against K-Electric’s overbilling at Deputy Commissioner Malir’s Camp Office.

Muhammad Yameen said that citizens can decrease load shedding by saving power while eradications of overbilling by perusing case to case applications is our duty. Applicant S M Abbas Naqvi told ombudsman court that he regularly pay electricity bill but very upset due to overbilling and this bill belong to a place where I provide free education to poor children, Get me rid of overbilling and issue order to correct meter, upon which Ombudsman court said to K-Electric officers that they change power user’s meter at K-Electric’s expenses.

Plaintiff Ansar Hussain Khan said that his meter is out of his house therefore there is no question of power theft but he is sent unexpected excessive bill. Advisor Muhammad Yameen peruses the bill and took positive actions. Hussain Khan told Federal Ombudsman that he is employee in Karachi University and his salary is short while he has received K-Electric bill of 73 thousand rupees and he is unable to pay this bill. Muhammad Yameen eradicated overbilling and fulfilled the demands of justice.

Syed Altaf Hussain told that he live in only 70 sq. yards house and pay the bill regularly but in spite of this he suddenly has received a bill of 49630/- rupees, it requested by Ombudsman court to deduct the over billed amount and provide justice upon which court provided him justice by decreasing the bill after perusing previous and current bill.

Hearing the application of Muhammad Bilal1, Advisor to Ombudsman court Muhammad Yameen said that the application filed before 1993 is not worth of hearing according to Supreme Court’s Order. The same court asks the report by K-Electric’s concerned officer during hearing of Abrar Khan’s application.

Upon which the officer told that consumer’s bill is normal and correct even is in accordance of meter reading. Upon which court said to the consumer that installments could be made of bill but amount cannot be decreased. K-Electric’s General Manager Maroof Solangi, Coordinator Waqas Ahmed and PRO Federal Ombudsman regional office Behleem Builqees Jan was also present on this occasion.
