Position Holder Pakistani Students visit Pakistan Embassy in Berlin
Islamabad: A delegation of 26 Pakistani students who secured top positions in their examination of matriculation, Intermediate and BA/BSc visited Pakistan Embassy here today. The senior officials of the mission greeted the delegates. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany Mr. Shahid Kamal briefed the students on Pak-German relations in the field of education. He said that efforts were under way to get increased the number of scholarships for Pakistani students as well as setting up of links between campuses of German and Pakistani universities in the field of research. He informed that a Centre of Excellence was being set up in Islamabad with the help and cooperation of Technical University of Berlin in the field of Nano Technology.
Prof. Dr. M Khaleeq-ur-Rehman, Group coordinator thanked the Ambassador and the officials of the Embassy for organizing fruitful engagements of the delegation with faculties of various universities located in Germany. He presented a shield on behalf of the delegation to the Ambassador. During the reception the students gathered information about higher studies in Germany from the senior students, presently pursuing their PhD degrees in Germany who were specially invited by the Embassy, says a press release received here today from Berlin.
The delegation comprising of 15 female and 11 male students, majority of them from Punjab, is currently on visit to various universities in Turkey, Germany, and UK. The purpose is to further motivate these students and broaden their horizon by international exposure.
Earlier the delegation visited Humboldt University and the Technical University in Berlin. They are scheduled to visit universities in Heidelberg, Dortmund, Aachen and Gottingen in Germany before heading to UK. Visit of these position holder students have been organized on the initiative of the Punjab government.
