Perpetual warrant obtained of two accused in Shehbaz Bhatti assassination case
Islamabad: A delegation of minorities community called on Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and was briefed about the progress into the investigation of Shehbaz Bhatti assassination case, a police spokesman said.
The IGP told the delegation that Special Anti-Terrorism Court has issued perpetual warrant of two accused Zia ur Rehman and Malik Abid, also declaring them as proclaimed offender. It was told that these accused will be brought to Pakistan after contacting with Interpol and Ministry of Interior has been approached for this purpose.
Sikandar Bhatti, the brother of deceased has nominated these two persons as accused in Shehbaz Bhatti assassination case who fled to Dubai after this incident. The IGP said that efforts are underway to transfer these two accused in Pakistan to reveal facts.
A police spokesman said that some TV Channels and newspapers have quoted IGP Islamabad as saying that there had been some conflict of Shehbaz Bhatti with someone in a property matter. He said this statement is totally misquoted and IGP Islamabad had not talked to any TV Channel or newspaper in this regard.
