People protest highhandedness of Indian forces in Bandipore

Srinagar, March 09, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, people staged demonstrations in Bandipore district against the highhandedness of Indian police and troops.

People took to the streets in Tengpora Naidkhai area of the district and held demonstrations against the ransacking of houses and beating of inmates by Indian forces. The protestors told mediamen that scores of troops and policemen ransacked the houses and thrashed men and women.

Ghulam Nabi Najar, a resident, said that the police personnel barged into his house and beat up his daughters and wife without any reason. They smashed the windowpanes, broke our gate and locker, he said, adding that when people protested, he was called by the top police officials to redress his grievance.

“As I reached outside the camp, some personnel thrashed me and snatched Rs 3,000 without any provocation,” he said.
