PASPIDA delegation visits LCCI

Lahore, October 08, 2016 (PPI-OT): The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Saturday urged the concerned high-ups to resolve the issues of undue checking of consignment of trading goods and high customs duty on auto parts at the earliest as these are hampering the growth of this vibrant sector.

These views were expressed by the LCCI Senior Vice President Amjad Ali Jawa and Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan while addressing the delegation of Pakistan Auto Spare parts Importers and Dealers Association (PASPIDA) here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday.

Chairman PASPIDA Sheikh Abdul Jabbar, Senior Vice Chairman Zafar Abbas, Vice Chairman Saleemullah, the LCCI Executive Committee Members Awais Piracha, Zeeshan Khalil, former EC member Asad Noor Paganwala, PASPIDA members Dr. Arshad Majid, Usman Malik, Mujtaba Babar and others also spoke on the occasion.

On the occasion, the LCCI Vice President Nasir Hameed Khan announced to establish dedicated arrangement to review the challenge and issues being faced by PASPIDA.

The LCCI office-bearers said that members of PASPIDA are not providing employment to the thousands families but are also one of the major sources of revenue to the national exchequer therefore they should be treated as backbone of the economy in true sense of words.

Amjad Ali Jawa and Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan said that all concerned departments should adopt friendly approach towards the business community. They said that undue checking of the goods and issuance of notices should be stopped at it is not only hurting business but also creating an atmosphere of harassment.

The LCCI office-bearers said that the business community is the power to make country economic leader at global level therefore policies should be formed while keeping in view their stakes. They said that all departments should act as facilitator to the business community.

They said that measures for controlling smuggling, are actually affecting those businessmen who are doing their businesses legally. They said that there is a dire need to encourage the honest businessmen through bringing raids to end at business premises.

The LCCI office-bearers also called for a strategy to remove the menace of smuggling. They said that smuggled goods should be stopped at borders instead of conducting raids in the markets while duties and taxes on smuggling prone goods should be brought down to the lowest.

They assured the PASPIDA delegation that Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry will highlight their issues at all forums.

Chairman PASPIDA Sheikh Abdul Jabbar, Senior Vice Chairman Zafar Abbas and Vice Chairman Saleemullah informed the LCCI office-bearers that Pakistan Auto Spare parts Importers and Dealers Association (PASPIDA) while congratulating the LCCI new body, hoped that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry will enhance the role of business community in policy making process besides acting as bridge between the government and private sector.
