Islamabad: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, has reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to fighting religious extremism and enhancing inter-faith harmony. These commitments were voiced in a meeting with Indonesia’s Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma, held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony.
According to Press Information Department, during their discussions, both representatives explored various approaches to foster religious harmony, respect for humanity, and tolerance. Minister Hussain emphasized the critical need for unity and solidarity within the Muslim community, citing the challenges and adversities faced by Muslim nations today. He highlighted that Islamic teachings advocate for the unity of the Ummah, peace, brotherhood, respect for humanity, and camaraderie.
Mr. Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma agreed on the importance of dialogue between different religions and cultures to achieve global peace. He noted that tolerance and respect are fundamental aspects of Islamic teachings. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to strengthen cooperation in efforts to eradicate extremism and promote interfaith understanding. Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony, Zulfaiqar Haider, was also present at the meeting.
