Pakistan-Mauritius deal on sports cooperation signed

Islamabad, December 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, and Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Ahmed Rashid Beebeejaun on Monday signed an MoU for cooperation in the field of sports between Mauritius and Pakistan. The signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of IPC.

The MoU provides for exchange of experts, Government Officials, coaches and teams of cricket, hockey, squash, football, athletics and volleyball. It also provides for exchange of material for the development of sports programmes.

Under the MoU, both the countries will also have cooperation in the field of research and science related to sports. Interaction through meetings, conferences and symposia is also envisaged along with exchange of sports documentation and literature.

It may be mentioned that the exchange of sports delegations, teams, coaches and officials shall be carried out in accordance with the annual schedule approved by both the countries.

In his remarks on the occasion the Minister said the MoU will promote the peace loving image of Pakistan. The exchange of players between two countries will promote positive activities among the youth, he added.

After the signing ceremony, the visiting Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius along with Federal Minister, IPC visited various sections of the Sports Complex.
