Pakistan and United Kingdom enjoy cordial relationship: minister

Islamabad, March 10, 2014 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that Pakistan and the United Kingdom enjoy a special relationship and the present government will do everything to take it to a higher level.

He said this while talking to Mr. Philip Barton, the High Commissioner of United Kingdom who met him here today. The Minister said that Pakistan and UK enjoy a multifaceted relationship spread over economic and political cooperation. He emphasized the need that the existing cordial ties between the two countries should be further enhanced in the times to come.

Talking about the regional situation, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that next few months were going to be a crucial time for developments in the region. He said Pakistan was committed to remain nonpartisan in regional affairs and wants clarity among all stakeholders to ensure stability and order in Afghanistan.

Mr. Barton said the UK government understands the difficult challenges being faced by Pakistan currently and assured UK’s full cooperation in countering terrorism and eradicating militancy. He particularly mentioned the new Internal Security Policy of Pakistan and said UK was willing to extend every possible support in implementing the said policy.
