Pakistan and China sign cooperation agreements

Beijing, July 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan and China signed eight documents of cooperation in various areas of economy here on Friday.

The first pact pertained to an ambitious project of Pak-China Economic corridor, a long term agreement. The project costs approximately 18 billion dollars. About 200 kilometres tunnels will be built on this corridor.

The document was signed by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, while Chairman National Development and Reforms Commission of PRC, Xu Shao Shi inked the pact from Chinese side. The Chinese Premier termed the economic corridor as of strategic interest to China.

The Agreement on Economic and Technical cooperation between the Government of Pakistan and China was also inked. The Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi signed the agreement.

Letters of Exchanges were signed on training courses for textile, flood relief and disaster management and provision of equipment for eradication of Polio.

Advisor Tariq Fatemi signed another MoU for cooperation between Institute of Strategic Study and China Institute of Contemporary Study.

Another document was signed between Strategic Communication Organization of Pakistan and Huawei Company for laying optic fiber for setting up communication link between Pakistan and China.

The Punjab Minister of Energy, Choudhry Sher Ali Khan signed MoU on Local Home Solar Solution project. The Chief of the ZTE signed the documents from Chinese side.

All these agreements and MoUs were signed in the presence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Premier Li Keqiang.
