Pak stand on not inviting IOK assembly Speaker hailed

Srinagar, August 09, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the forum led by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has welcomed Pakistan for not inviting the speaker of so-called Kashmir Assembly to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference to be held in Islamabad next month, terming the decision as just and timely. The forum in a statement commenting on the policy statement of Pakistan’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz, said that Jammu and Kashmir was a disputed territory, and India’s stubbornness could not change its disputed nature.

Sartaj Aziz in his statement had said that the invitation would not be in accordance with the country’s principled stand because Pakistan did not consider the Kashmir Assembly as legitimate. The forum maintained that India was unjustifiably raising hue and cry over the issue. The forum asked India to shun its policy of obduracy on Jammu and Kashmir and take steps for settlement of the dispute as per UN resolutions.
