Oxford University Press workshop on its popular English language course

Karachi: As a part of its on-going teacher training programme, Oxford University Press is organizing workshops on its popular English language series, Oxford Reading Tree, for the teachers of classes pre-primary and up to class 2 of The City Schools nationwide. The workshops will be held in Karachi on 28 and 29 September, in Lahore on 1 October, and in Islamabad on 3 October.

Oxford Reading Tree is a comprehensive reading programme for children learning English. It is one of the most highly successful reading schemes in the world as it teaches children aged 2.5 to 12 years to read through finely graded and progressive stages while keeping them engaged with storylines and characters they can relate to.

As children progress to each new stage the number of words and the difficulty of the sentences in the stories gradually increase. Children love the characters of the Oxford Reading Tree stories and enjoy reading about them; the programme is easy for teachers to use and is an ideal way to encourage more parental support.

The workshops will be conducted by Rahila Ashraf, who is currently a member of staff at the Oxford University Press, where she has done research for various Oxford publications. She has invaluable experience with Oxford Reading Tree and other English language programmes offered by Oxford University Press. Rahila has conducted workshops in the past and has vast teaching experience, having taught at some of the prestigious schools of Karachi.
