Overbilling of K-Electric became grievous: Muhammad Ameen

Karachi, October 20, 2016 (PPI-OT): Advisor to Federal Ombudsman Muhammad Yameen has said that overbilling of K.E. got into grievous condition due to which poor citizens are contacting to the Ombudsman court in order to get instant justice. These thoughts were expressed by the Advisor on occasion of hearing of applications against K-Electric at Deputy Commissioner Malir’s Camp Office. He said that the applicants are making Hue and Cry in Ombudsman Court to get rid of cruelty of K.E., consumers say that to send bills on approximation without meter reading is quite exploitation with them, when it could do anything, K.E. sends excessive bills to the consumers and increase their difficulties.

Applicant Naseem Begum told that K.E. sent Kunda bill of neighbour to her, she is a widow and poor woman, how could pay this bill, upon which Advisor to the Federal Ombudsman upended the excess bill and provided her justice. Applicant Syed Noman Naqvi requested to the Court against overbilling and sending bills on approximation, the Court ordered K.E. to change the meter on company’s expenses and to correct the bill. Applicant Zaib Un Nisa told that she lives in a house having two rooms while bill of K.E. is equal a bill for a house having tens of rooms, she is tired whirling around K.E. offices, she request to correct the bill, upon which the Court, with consultations of the representative of K.E., upended the excess bill.

Applicant Khaleeq Ahmed Siddiqui made a complaint against excess billing then representative of K.E. present in Ombudsman Court produced the proofs of power theft and said that the said applicant is using extra phase which is a crime under the law, upon which Ombudsman Court heard the explanation of the applicant Khaleeq Ahmed Siddiqui and made settlement between the parties by mutual understanding and in such way the matter is solved.

Applicant Kausar Perveen told that she is poor, cannot afford to pay wrong bill, requested to provide justice, the Court upended the wrong amount from her bill and ordered to pay remaining amount in 12 instalments. Applications of Hafeez Khan, Sarwar Hussain, Muhammad Shafiq, Raheem Khan, Farzana Sajjad, Muhammad Atif Qadri and other applicants were also heard on this occasion and the Court, taking action, provided them swift justice and in such way won their hearts and people went back to their homes in happy mood praying for Federal Ombudsman Mr. Salman Farooqui and their team.
