Open House and Job Fair held by College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology

Islamabad, June 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): Annual Event of Open House and Job Fair was held today by College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (E and ME), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).

Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Rana Tanveer Hussain, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address he emphasized on strengthening the relationship between industry and academia, for rapid growth of science and technology in the country. He highlighted importance to foster a culture of entrepreneurship in the country. He expressed his belief that the country can only move towards self sufficiency and improve its economy if our entrepreneurs focus on engineering sector.

He also emphasized that engineering universities were the focal points to kick start such activities. He took keen interest in the students’ projects related to the areas of Renewable energy and energy management, Radars, Unmanned Air and Ground Vehicles, Prosthetic limbs, Composite materials, automotive technology and indigenous software development for engineering applications. He highly appreciated work done by young engineers and congratulated them on their commendable performance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant NUST College of E and ME, Brigadier Aftab Ahmad Khan Lughmani, elaborated the significance of Open House for the students and industry both. He highlighted the achievements of his students. He pointed out quality traits of the graduates of E and ME College and appreciated highly the qualified and devoted faculty of this institution.

The objective of this event was to provide an opportunity to both, potential employers and the graduating students of the College, to come closer and share their mutual interests. Another purpose was to develop new relationships and strengthen the already existing links with Industry.

Students exhibited around 90 Final Year Projects related to Electrical, Mechanical, Computer and Mechatronics Engineering. These projects focused on practical solutions of engineering problems. A total of around 75 delegates from more than 35 companies participated in this event in various capacities. Numerous companies conducted interviews in the afternoon and some of them also conducted job tests.
