OIC chief meets Gabon’s foreign minister in Riyadh

Riyadh Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen received here on Thursday Gabon's Foreign Minister Abdu Razzaq Guy Kambogo and his accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed means of enhancing relations between the OIC and Gabon within the joint Islamic action.

The Gabonese minister expressed his appreciation for the leading role played by the OIC in the international arena, stressing that his country's continued support to the Organization, especially with regard to the Palestinian cause. He praised the distinguished Gabonese-OIC relations, underlining the need to strengthen cooperation between the two sides in the political, economic and development fields.

For his part, the secretary general called on the Gabonese officials to create the conditions for attracting investment from the OIC member states, given the abundance of natural resources, particularly in agriculture.

Both sides also exchanged views on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Islamic Summit and the 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, as well as the preparations for the 2nd edition of the OIC Festival to be held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, on April 24-27.
