Newly elected senators from Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw call on the President

Islamabad: Newly elected senators of Pakistan People’s Party from Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw called on Party’s Co- Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr tonight.

Senator Sardar Ali Khan, Ms. Rukhsana Bangash and Syed Zahir Shah, provincial Minister Health was also present during the meeting.

The newly elected senators included Mr. Ahmad Hassan Khan, Mr. Saifullah Bangash , Ms Rubina Khalid and Mr. Farhatullah Babar,

The President felicitated the newly elected senators from Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw as the members of the upper House of the Parliament and said that Senate has special and significant role in the federation by virtue of its permanence and equality of representation from each federating unit

The President said that he was confident that the newly elected senators , with their devotion and commitment , would set high standards of excellence in Parliamentary practices and expressed hope that they would build on legacy of the outgoing senators to further strengthen democracy and the Parliament with the spirit of reconciliation.

The newly elected senators appreciated the leadership of the party and the government for strengthening democracy and democratic institutions and also for the smooth holding of the senate election across the country. The senators also congratulated the Party’s Co Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari for emergence of PPP as the single largest party in the Upper House of the Parliament.

The senators reposed full confidence in leadership of the party and the government and assured, that while pursuing Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto’s vision of reconciliation, they will play proactive role to further strengthen democracy and the parliament besides resolving issues of the people of the area.
