Need stressed to transform un-skilled Labour Force to skilled manpower: Minister

Islamabad, July 23 2013 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister of State for Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education, Eng.Muhammad Baligh-Ur-Rehman here Tuesday said there was a need to transform un-skilled labor force to skilled manpower for enhancing the productivity, effectiveness of production and national income.

Speaking on the inaugural session of training for Third badge of VETDACO, he said most of the Pakistani labor force is unskilled or semi-skilled, due to which they do not find decent jobs. Besides transforming the unskilled labor to skilled ones, there is also a need to provide gainful employment to the skilled workers that will ultimately increase their living standard.

“Effective partnerships between governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations and training providers are critical to anchor the world of learning in the world of work. Education has been identified as an important determinant of economic growth,” he said, adding that higher levels of educational attainment lead to a more skilled and productive workforce, producing more efficiently a higher standard of goods and services, which forms the basis of faster economic growth and rising living standards.

To fulfill these commitments, government will launch some programes for youth including Prime Minister Youth Training Programme, Prime Minister Youth Skill Development Programme, Small Business Loan Schemes, Prime Minister’s Scheme for Provision of Laptops, Free Reimbursement Scheme for Less Developed Areas, Prime Minister’s Micro Finance Scheme and Prime Minister’s Housing Finance Scheme.
