Srinagar, Senior leader of the National Conference and Lok Sabha candidate from Srinagar, Agha Ruhullah, has stated that efforts by divisive elements in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) will be fought “tooth and nail.” His remarks reflect the ongoing resistance against the measures imposed by the Indian government on August 5, 2019, when the region’s special status was revoked.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Ruhullah told the media that the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) was not an electoral alliance but formed for a specific cause—opposing the abrogation of Article 370, which granted IIOJK special autonomy. He reiterated that the cause for which PAGD was created still holds relevance, requiring a unified approach to fight for the restoration of rights.
“This is an important election to make people aware and tell them to wake up and fight for their rights,” Agha Ruhullah said, emphasizing the significance of the ongoing Lok Sabha election. He noted that the election is for the same institution where the rights of the people were taken away. He urged the public to use the election as an opportunity to stand against the policies implemented on August 5, 2019.
Agha Ruhullah stressed the importance of representing the collective sentiment of the people of IIOJK, who are disillusioned by the decisions made in New Delhi. He underscored that the National Conference’s participation in the election is to continue the struggle for the rights that were stripped away, signaling the party’s commitment to challenging the status quo.
