National Accountability Bureau’s progress report regarding Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation: Supreme Court orders Director General NAB to be present on the next hearing

Islamabad, June 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): A three member bench, headed by Hon’ble. Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Chief Justice of Pakistan and comprising on other two Judges, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman heard the CIVIL MISC. APPLICATION NO. 4917 OF 2012 (Progress report submitted by NAB in Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation)in SMC 15 of 2009. The bench heard the case on 21.6.2013 and passed the following order:-

ORDER

“It seems that NAB is not taking interest despite of the fact that matter has been transferred on the file of NAB in the month of May, 2012 in as much as the 20th fortnightly progress report submitted by the D.G posted at Karachi is not satisfactory.

2. In the circumstances we direct the Prosecutor General NAB to go through the judgment carefully and highlight the areas were the NAB is required to conduct investigation and also ensure attendance of D.G NAB Karachi on the next date of hearing to explain as to what progress has so far been made in this case.

3. Adjourned to 1st July, 2013.”
