National Accountability Bureau takes notice of alleged corruption in Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad

Islamabad, June 18, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has taken serious notice of the alleged corruption of Rs. 2.5 billion in Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Islamabad as reported in the media.

According to media report, former Vice Chancellor (VC) of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Islamabad, Nazeer Ahmad, former Registrar Mohammad Bashir, Head of Physics Department Dr. Zafar Ilyas and Dr. A. Naeem of Social Sciences Department were found involved in the alleged corruption. The accused persons made money from development work, transport, recruitment and by selling recycle papers.

While taking the notice of the alleged corruption of Rs. 2.5 billion in Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad, Chairman NAB has directed Director General NAB (Rawalpindi) to look into the matter and submit report within seven (7) days.
