Motorway Police launches campaign to control accidents on motorway during summer season

Islamabad, July 17, 2014 (PPI-OT): Mr. Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan, DIG Motorway Police presided an operational meeting to make strategy to control accidents during summer season. The meeting was attended by Sector and Beat Commanders of Motorway Zone.

During the meeting, DIG Motorway analyzed the accident data of previous years and to this effect different aspects were discussed at length to control accidents. DIG Motorway directed to immediately launch a special briefing / enforcement campaign with regards to checking of worn out tyres and poor condition of old model vehicles.

In this regard, tyres of each vehicle shall be checked at entry points with the help of tread gauge and vehicles with worn out tyres shall not be permitted to enter on motorway. DIG Motorway directed to all patrolling officers, DSPs/CPOs and admin officer to take personal interest and take all necessary precautionary measures to make this campaign a success.

DIG Motorway also directed Sector Commanders to monitor the campaign vigorously so that precious lives could be saved on motorway as it is evident from record that with the advent of summer season, ratio of accidents considerably increased specially of tyre burst.

In addition, DIG Motorway also directed that all vehicles shall be briefed to use left / first lane if the speed of vehicle is less than 100 km/h and in no case, second or third lane be used so that accident could be avoided.

DIG Motorway also urged that all available resources and efforts should be utilized to ensure safe, secured and unhindered journey on motorway, which is a prime objection of National Highways and Motorway Police.
