More rain predicted in country during next 2-3 days

Islamabad, March 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): Met Office predicted one more spell of winter rains during next 2-3 days (Saturday to Monday) at scattered places in the country except Sindh.

Spokesman of Met-Office informed that another westerly wave, presently giving rain/snow in Afghanistan, is likely to enter Pakistan on today (Evening/Night). Under the influence of this weather system;

• Scattered rain/thunderstorm is expected in Balochistan on Saturday/Sunday.

• Scattered rain/thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected in Islamabad, KP, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Lahore divisions), GB and Kashmir on Sunday/Monday.

• Heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places in Kashmir and Hazara division during the period.

• Hailstorm associated with strong wind may also occur at isolated places of Islamabad and North Punjab (Rawalpindi division) during the period.

Spokesman further informed that it would be the last spell of late winter rains, however, one or two more spring rain spells of moderate intensity may occur over upper parts of the country during the current month. After this spell, the pollen concentration in Islamabad is very likely to increase.
