Mirwaiz demands immediate disbanding of VDCs
Srinagar, July 29 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has demanded the disbanding of all of the so-called Village Defence Committees (VDCs) across the territory immediately saying that the VDC members have a communal agenda.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a media interview in Srinagar said “We express shock over the kidnapping and the treatment meted out to a minor girl by VDC members at Batekote in Kishtwar. This is not for the first time, VDC members have indulged in such inhuman acts against the members of a particular community in the past as well.”
“I believe the VDCs are following the communal agenda in J and K to divide the territory by indulging in immoral activities,” he said.
“VDCs are proving to be more dangerous than Special Task Force (STF) and Special Operation Groups (SOG). Delay in disbanding VDCs may turn more dangerous for the people of J and K,” he said.
