Minister vows to continue struggle for the provision of rights to the minorities

Islamabad, July 11, 2012 (PPI-OT): Present democratic government will continue its struggle for the provision of rights to the minorities this was stated by the Minister of State for National Harmony Akram Masih Gill during a press conference in Islamabad today. Akram Gill further informed that the bill has been presented in National Assembly to increase the number of seats reserved for non-Muslims according to their population in the National and Provincial Assemblies. Cabinet also indorsed the same.

Akram Masih Gill said that rights of the minorities would be the major priority of us so that they should live with the dignity and honour in the society.

The Minister of State said that condition of religious minorities can be improved by promoting their rights, ensuring life safety, imparting education, providing legal support, security, real protection of the freedom and rights of citizenship through interfaith harmony dialogue.

Akram Masih Gill pledges to make Pakistan a developed and peace loving country and to give equal rights to all its citizens including religious minorities leaving the old policy of ignoring them in different fields, removing barriers for them.

The Minister of State stated on the occasion that present Federal Government paying full attention on the welfare of common man. He further said that it is need of hour. It is necessary for a developing country that its people even having different faiths should live with tolerance, love and brotherhood.

They should respect each other’s believes. People should have equal opportunities of education and prosperity. Keeping in view these objectives government of Pakistan has established, National Harmony Ministry.

Akram Masih Gill has also said that the minorities of Pakistan has a model role in the field of development and prosperity of the country and they should be admired.

The Minister of State said the government is trying its best to protect the rights of the minorities and subsequently appreciated the cabinet decision to increase the number of seats reserved for non-muslims in Assemblies proportionate to their population.
